The Kinloch Hotel
The Kinloch Hotel stands on the shore
of Loch Scridain, beside the road that leads from Craignure to Iona, and overlooks Ben
More, the highest point on the island. From its situation, it enjoys an uninterrupted view
of a vast expanse of mountains and tidal shore. Click

The Kinloch Hotel is not a place to start worrying about what is happening in the
outside world; you can forget about newspapers and telephones and all those things that
can get in the way of your holiday. You can relax and wonder where each days adventure is
going to take you next and I will be happy to help you with advice when you need it.
This is only a small hotel; an old drovers inn as it happens, so please don't expect the very latest of facilities. Yet, being small, it is both warm and friendly. You won't feel lost here and yet if it is solitude that you seek then we will respect that. But you will find a lot of very welcoming local people who will be only too willing to pass an evening in conversation, if you give them the opportunity. They are a source of very useful local knowledge too.
If you are thinking about observing the wildlife and learning from someone with specialised knowledge, I would have no hesitation in recommending my neighbour Bryan Rains, whose site www.wildaboutmull.co.uk is a mine of information. His partner Joy, runs the Pennyghael Stores and Post Office, that lie adjacent to the Kinloch Hotel and well worthy of a visit.
Now the catering here is an important matter as well. After all, this isn't just a place to
sleep. Here at the Kinloch Hotel, we take a justifiable pride in our catering, which is
traditional rather than contemporary. Here, we are able to cater to individual needs if
required, and by that I include specialised diets. I believe that presentation and content
are important and we try wherever possible to prepare our meals from the highest quality
meat, vegetables and fruit which I try to source from suppliers on the island wherever
possible. We also try to use local fish and game when in season, to add variety to our
menus.
But I also recognise that Mull is an island of choices, and if you are wanting to eat out during your stay with us, I can think of more than one or two other places I would be very happy to recommend to you.
If in the course of you stay on the island, you felt it would be beneficial to enjoy a guided tour of the sights, or indeed simply avail yourself of a taxi service, I would be delighted to recommend Mull & Iona Taxis. This small though first class service, is run by David and Janna Greenhalgh, who live close to hand in Bunessan. Their website address is www.mullionataxi.com
